Terms & Conditions

1. What Sahaaya is

Sahaaya is a peer-to-peer platform that connects neighbours who need small tasks done with people nearby who are willing to help. We are not an employer or service provider for the tasks themselves, and we do not process or hold the payment you make to each other for a task — see Payments below for the one thing we do charge.

2. Your own risk

All tasks, conversations, payments, and interactions happen between you and the other user — entirely at your own risk. Sahaaya is not responsible for any fraud, loss, damage, dispute, or harm that may occur. We do not verify the identity, background, or intent of any user beyond the optional document-based verification badge.

3. Payments

The task price itself is still between you and the other user — paid directly, by UPI, cash, or any method you both agree on. Sahaaya takes zero commission on it, does not hold funds, and does not offer escrow.

Separately, Sahaaya charges a small platform fee when a task locks (both sides confirm work has started): 10% of the task's offer amount, with a ₹5 minimum. Your first 3 tasks are free of this fee, and it's waived entirely while your Unlimited plan is active. This fee — and the optional Unlimited plan below — are processed through our payment partner, Razorpay, not held or processed by Sahaaya directly.

Unlimited plan (₹49/month, optional): waives the platform fee on every task. It renews automatically each month via recurring auto-debit (UPI Autopay or card e-mandate) until you cancel — we email you 3 days and 1 day before each renewal. Cancelling stops the next renewal only; you keep the plan for whatever period you already paid for, then it reverts to the pay-per-task fee. No cancellation fee.

Refunds for the platform fee or Unlimited plan are reviewed case-by-case — raise one from Help → Payment issue, with proof if you have it. They are not automatic. See our full for exact timelines and what qualifies.

Some placements in the task feed are paid, clearly labelled “Sponsored” listings from local businesses. Sahaaya is not responsible for the offers, claims, or conduct of sponsors.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Sahaaya. By creating an account, you confirm you are 18 or older and legally able to enter into contracts under Indian law.

5. Account & verification

You can do up to 3 tasks without verification. After that, verification (Aadhaar card + photo) becomes mandatory. Verification is document-based only — it does not constitute a background check. The verified badge indicates documents were submitted, not that the user is trustworthy.

If you list yourself under Sahaaya Experts, your listing shows a nickname by default — the same as the rest of the app — unless you turn on the “Your real name” option on that listing, at which point your real name becomes visible to anyone viewing it. You can turn this on or off per listing, anytime. Everything else in these terms (your own risk, no verification of intent, acceptable use) applies to Experts inquiries and messaging the same as it does to tasks.

6. Chat recording & safety

All in-app chats are recorded and stored. By using the chat feature, you consent to this recording. Recorded chats may be shared with law enforcement authorities in case of fraud, abuse, or illegal activity. Phone numbers and emails shared in chat are blurred until you click them — this is a safety feature, not a guarantee.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) post illegal, harmful, or fraudulent tasks; (b) harass, abuse, or threaten other users; (c) share someone's personal information without consent; (d) create fake accounts; (e) attempt to circumvent the verification system; (f) use bots or scripts to spam. Violations may result in permanent ban without notice.

Anything you upload — a task photo, a sponsor banner, a chat attachment, a review — must be your own or something you have the right to share. Don't upload an image, document, or other file you don't own or don't have permission to use. We may remove content that infringes someone else's copyright and, for repeat infringement, suspend the account responsible.

8. Ratings & reviews

Ratings are mandatory to close a task. Reviews are public. You agree not to manipulate ratings (e.g., creating fake accounts to rate yourself) or retaliate against users who give honest low ratings. Sahaaya reserves the right to remove reviews that are abusive, fake, or legally defamatory.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sahaaya, its founders, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the platform.

10. Changes to terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Sahaaya after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Major changes will be notified via the app or email.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
